March To The Past ~ This Weekend!

Friends of Fort Defiance will present the annual March To The Past on April 22, 2007 at the fort. This event is FREE to the public! It begins at 1 pm and runs until 5 pm.

There will be 2 cannons firing, reenactors from both Union and Confederate armies, soap making, quilting, bonnet making, sewing, a 19th century country doctor, a rations display and a scale model of the fort to view in addition to some hands-on activities for the public. Snacks and drinks will be available for a donation.  All donations go to the Friend’s group’s efforts to educate, and provide more reenacting events at Fort Defiance.

Come out and learn about civilian and soldier activities during the 19th century and Clarksville’s role in the Civil War.

Living History Plans

The Friends of Ft. Defiance had their regular meeting Tuesday, February 6th.  We voted in a new board member and we discussed our plans for the upcoming Living History event.
The date for the March to the Past event is Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Fort. We are hoping to have our civilian and military reenactors present as well as demonstrations with the canon and various historical interpreters to help the public better understand the Civil War period in Clarksville. The event is free to the public and we will be accepting donations.  Refreshments will be available.
This would be a great event for Scouting groups and School groups as well as a wonderful family activity. Come join us as we March to the Past!
