The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a living history event to commemorate the 157th anniversary of the surrender of Clarksville to Union soldiers in 1862 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
There will be a Native American Artifact Display at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center on Saturday, April 13 from 10 am until 3:30 pm. Come out and take a look at many types of Native American Artifacts. The public is invited to come and bring their own collections to show and talk about.
Friends of Fort Defiance will present the annual March To The Past event on Saturday, May 4th from 10 am til 3:30 pm. There will be numerous exhibits on civilian and military life in the 19th century, artillery firing and more! Click on the picture to see more photos.
Mark Britton will speak about medical treatments and medicine during the Civil War era from 10 am until 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 25th at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center. Learn about medicine and doctors in the 1860s and see a display of 19th century medical instruments.
Music At the Fort will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from 11 am until 3 pm. Come out and bring blankets and chairs to sit on and a picnic for your family while you enjoy Marlin Rood and his String Band as they play period Civil war era music. Click on the picture to see more photos.
Day With The Dead – On Saturday, August 10th, from 5 pm til 8 pm, listen to reenactors portraying important women and men who lived in Clarksville TN and Montgomery county from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center.
Sevier Days will be held at Fort Defiance on Saturday, September 14th from 10 am until 3:30 pm. There will be 18th century re-enactors, mountain men, and Native American re-enactors demonstrating 18th century skills and ways of life. Learn about the history of Sevier Station and its importance to Clarksville, TN
Halloween at Fort Defiance will be held on Friday, October 25th at 6:00 pm. Come listen to frightful stories from Clarksville’s past and those of surrounding areas. There will be a bon fire, hot dogs and hot cocoa. Bring chairs and blankets to sit on. In case of rain, this even till be held in doors in the Interpretive Center.
Come celebrate Christmas as folks did in the 1860s in Clarksville, TN. On Saturday, December 14th, at 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm and again from 5:00 pm til 6:30 pm. Santa will be there to read The Night Before Christmas, there will be period refreshments, parlor games, reenactors and carol singing!
