On Saturday, February 18th, at the Ft. Defiance Interpretive Center, the Friends Group will host a living history event to commemorate the 158th anniversary of the surrender of Clarksville to Union soldiers in 1862 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, April 15th, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, local artifact collectors will display their collections. Come learn more about those items lurking in your closet or collecting dust on your display shelves. Bring them to the Fort to find out more about your treasures! For educational purposes only, no sales. Open to the public.
Friends of Fort Defiance will present the annual March To The Past event on Saturday, May 13th from 10 am til 3:30 pm. There will be numerous exhibits on civilian and military life in the 19th century, artillery firing and more! Click on the picture to see more photos.
Mark Britton will speak about medical treatments and medicine during the Civil War era from 10 am until 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 27th at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center. Learn about medicine and doctors in the 1860s and see a display of 19th century medical instruments.
Sevier Days will be held at Fort Defiance on Saturday, September 16th from 10 am until 3:30 pm. There will be 18th century re-enactors, mountain men, and Native American re-enactors demonstrating 18th century skills and ways of life. Come celebrate Christmas as folks did in the 1860s in Clarksville, TN. On Saturday, December 9th, at 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm Christmas in Occupied Clarksville – Come celebrate Christmas as soldiers did in the 1860s in Clarksville, TN. The event will be held outdoors and will be limited to 50 people. You can buy tickets at Clarksville Parks and Recreation. There will be period refreshments, parlor games and re-enactors. There will be goodie bags for participants to take home. In the event of rain, the event will be held indoors at the Interpretive Center.
