Civil War Tinctures, Salves, Pills and Teas

On Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM, Sylvia Britton will be presenting a demonstration and talk on Civil War herbal medicines.

Patent medicine was difficult to obtain in the south during the Civil War because of Union blockades. Both civilian and army doctors utilized herbs in many forms to treat illness and injury.

Discussion will include information on and a demonstration of the making and use of herbs in tinctures, salves, pills and teas during the Civil War period.
